Things to do

Holiday Inn DL Things to doSummer
During the summer the water sports opportunities are endless; fishing, pontoons, scuba diving and tubing are all available on Big Detroit Lake. Rent your Marina Slip today! Boat rentals are also available at our Marina.

If golf is your game, the area features six courses within ten miles of the hotel with Wildflower being rated 4 1/2 Stars by Golf Digest and the Detroit Lakes Country Club leading the way.

There is an Amusement Park within four miles of the hotel and they offer: go carts, bumper boats, batting cages, and mini golf.

Fall
Fall offers tons of beautiful colors. In September the foliage begins to change and it is time for bird watching, hunting, fishing and touring. The Holiday Inn-Detroit Lakes is located between Tamarac Wildlife Refuge with regular sightings of deer, Bald Eagles, Trumpeter Swans and occasionally Black Bear, Moose and Timber Wolf; and Hamden Slough, a new refuge offering spectacular views of the fall migrating birds. Fall fishing is historically when the "lunkers" are caught and Big Detroit Lake has produced it's share of trophy Walleyes, and more recently 50 plus inch Muskies. Fall color tours are mapped out in brochures of the Detroit Lakes area for viewing the spectacular colors that fall brings us each year.

Winter
Winter brings the Holiday Inn-Detroit Lakes its second most active season. From snowmobiling to ice fishing, snowboarding and ice skating. We have something for every outdoor enthusiast. Four different groomed snowmobile trails totaling over 200 miles originate adjacent to the hotel. Ice fish out the back door with fish house rentals available. Cross country skiing on groomed trails is within a four mile drive. Detroit Lakes, Minnesota is called the "Winter Wonderland" for a very good reason.

Spring
Spring blooms in Detroit Lakes with new life everywhere. Bird watchers flock to this area each year in mid May for the Festival of Birds. State Parks are located within thirty minutes south, east and west of the hotel. Itasca State Park, "The headwaters of the Mississippi", is an hour northeast. Spring fishing is always busy, choose Walleye, Northern, Crappie or Sunfish.
